Individual Responsibility and Collective Leadership
This 2-day course explores the origins, purpose, and evolving expectations of modern boards and the role of the board member, grounding participants in the essential principles that underpin effective governance. Beginning with the historical evolution of the boardroom, from the creation of the limited liability company to today’s globally interconnected governance landscape, participants will develop a clear understanding of why boards exist, how they function, and the roles directors play in driving sustainable businesses.
Through case examples, guided discussions, and expert-led insights, the session demystifies the core roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities of directors. Participants will deepen their understanding of fiduciary duties, the legal and ethical frameworks that govern board service, and the behavioural expectations that define successful board leadership.
